I'm only half female-
the other half is snake.
I have feet with toes and
hairy ankles and
legs like crescendos. And then
I have twisting scales that surface
me.
My top half
squirms in circles
as frantically as if
it were trying to get away.
My sickle tongue flies crazily
in and out of my deceiving mouth:
wider now, baby,
watch me go wider now.
My teeth are full of sedative;
my teeth are full of gateway drugs;
my teeth are date-rape dreams.
And my eyes are
black,
lined with yellow.
Not honey yellow:
not lightbulb yellow:
Bud Light yellow.
I have a tiny head,
pointed like a
spade, like a dinosaur.
take me to the beach and
watch me writhe on the sand,
it's what I do best.
